**We make agentes.chat.** Facts about the other tools come from their own pages, listed under Sources with the date we checked them. Facts about agentes.chat describe the product as it is today.

**Short answer:** In Teams, Copilot Chat comes with eligible Microsoft 365 licenses, while the Channel Agent needs a paid Microsoft Copilot license and is still in public preview, one per channel \[1\] \[4\]. Custom agents come from Copilot Studio. agentes.chat is a team chat built for many agents per channel, each with its own model and budget, in early access.

## When should you pick agentes.chat, and when should you stay on Teams?

**Choose agentes.chat if**

- You want to set up agents without code, each with a role, instructions, a model, a monthly budget and, if you like, an owner.
- You want several agents in one channel, answering without an @ and consulting each other when needed.
- You want to pick each agent's model from seven providers and see what each one spends.
- Your team's tools live outside Microsoft: GitHub, Linear, Sentry, Notion, Jira and the like.
- You're fine starting in early access, through a waitlist, before pricing is out.

**Stay on Teams if**

- You run on Microsoft 365: Outlook, SharePoint and meetings in Teams. agentes.chat has no Microsoft 365 connector and doesn't run inside Teams.
- You want an agent that learns from the channel's meetings and transcripts. The Channel Agent does that \[1\].
- IT wants to manage agents in the same admin center as Teams apps, licenses and policies \[1\] \[6\].
- You need published pricing now.

## How do agentes.chat and Teams with Copilot compare?

| Topic | agentes.chat | Teams with Copilot |
| --- | --- | --- |
| AI that comes with the chat | The workspace's own agents, created by owners and admins | Copilot Chat with eligible Microsoft 365 licenses, no Copilot license needed \[4\] |
| An agent in the channel | Several agents in one channel; a router picks who answers | One Channel Agent per channel, in public preview, with a Microsoft Copilot license \[1\] |
| Agents your team builds | Created in the app itself, without code, with a role, instructions and tools | Built in Copilot Studio and published to Teams; org-wide listing needs admin approval \[6\] |
| Sensitive actions | Merges, deploys and rollbacks always wait for a person; the request shows the exact action and expires in 24 h | The Channel Agent asks before sharing an answer with people who may lack file access \[1\] |
| Model | Chosen per agent: an API key from 7 providers, or a Claude or ChatGPT plan (ChatGPT in testing) | Copilot picks the model in Auto mode; people can ask for a quick or a deeper answer \[4\] |
| Budget per agent | A monthly cap in dollars, checked before every call | Not described on the pages we read |
| People outside the company | People join the workspace by invitation, approved by an admin | The Channel Agent doesn't work in channels with guests or external users \[1\] \[3\] |
| Apps | Browser, desktop (Mac, Windows and Linux) and phone (iPhone and Android) | Windows, Mac, web, iOS and Android; Teams no longer supports Linux \[9\] |

agentes.chat and Microsoft Teams with Copilot, topic by topic

In short: Teams is tied into all of Microsoft 365 and has published pricing, and its Channel Agent knows the channel's meetings. agentes.chat puts several agents in one channel, each with its own model, budget and approval rules, but it's still in early access.

## What AI comes with Microsoft Teams today?

**In Teams.** There are two tiers. Copilot Chat comes with eligible Microsoft 365 licenses and doesn't need a Microsoft Copilot license \[4\]. It searches the web, writes and rewrites, analyzes uploaded files, creates images and can talk to agents, and it shows up in apps like Outlook and Teams depending on your subscription \[4\].

A paid Microsoft Copilot license adds reasoning across the emails, meetings, calendars, chats and documents a person can already open, plus priority access and advanced agents. Without it, Microsoft lists advanced agents as “Limited” \[4\].

**In agentes.chat.** There's no general assistant on the side. The AI is the team's agents, each with a role, instructions, a model, tools and a budget. They work in the same channels, threads and DMs as people, and each step shows in the message. See the full model in our guide to [AI agents for teams](https://agentes.chat/en/guides/ai-agents-for-teams).

## What is the Microsoft Teams Channel Agent, and what are its limits?

**In Teams.** The Channel Agent is an agent created inside a channel. It draws on the channel's conversations and meetings to answer questions, write status reports, schedule channel meetings, create tasks, and draft and send emails \[1\] \[3\]. By default, every new channel an eligible person creates gets one, and admins can turn that auto-creation off \[1\].

To use it, a person needs an eligible Microsoft 365 base license, a Teams license and a Microsoft Copilot license, and has to be in the Teams public preview \[1\]. People without the license can see its answers but can't talk to it \[2\].

Microsoft's documentation lists limits, including \[1\] \[3\]:

* one Channel Agent per channel, and it can't be added to other channels;
* private channels don't support it;
* it doesn't work in channels with external or guest users;
* group chats aren't added to its knowledge;
* response quality may vary by language, with US English best supported;
* creating, removing and configuring it needs the desktop or web app.

When it joins a meeting, it drafts a summary from the transcript. People have 24 hours to approve or reject it; with no answer, the summary goes into the agent's knowledge \[1\]. Microsoft notes the feature is in preview and likely to change \[2\].

**In agentes.chat.** A channel can hold several agents, each with its own job. A message with no @ goes to a router, which only considers agents active in that conversation and allowed to talk to the author. For a normal message, one agent answers; for a message meant for everyone, up to four. Agents also consult each other in a side conversation. See how in [multi-agent chat](https://agentes.chat/en/features/multi-agent-chat).

**Example · Acme (fictional company)**

### A question in #product

Someone posts in #product: “What did we agree about the November launch?” The product agent answers from the messages and the wiki. The question touches an engineering date, so it asks the engineering agent in a side conversation and comes back with the answer.

## How do custom agents get into Teams?

**In Teams.** Through Copilot Studio. Once an agent is published, its maker can install it, share a link, or submit it for admin approval so it shows in the organization's Teams app catalog \[6\]. If the maker allows it, people can add the agent to a team and @mention it in any of that team's channels \[6\].

There are limits in channels and group chats: there, these agents can't use knowledge sources that need the person's own sign-in, such as SharePoint, which work only in one-to-one chats \[6\].

**In agentes.chat.** There's no separate studio, so if you're looking at Copilot Studio alternatives, this is the main difference. Owners and admins create the agent inside the app, without code: a name, a role, instructions, a model, tools, a budget and who may talk to it. Tools come from connectors the workspace sets up once; each agent gets only the access it was granted, per app or tool by tool. There are 50+ apps in one click, plus GitHub and any MCP server by its address. Our [MCP connectors guide](https://agentes.chat/en/guides/mcp-connectors) explains how this works.

## What can an agent do on its own, and what waits for a person?

**In Teams.** The Channel Agent follows file permissions. It won't use a file the person can't open, and when it can't confirm everyone in the conversation has access, it asks before sharing the answer \[1\]. Meeting summaries get the 24-hour review described above \[1\]. The pages we read don't say whether it asks before sending an email.

**In agentes.chat.** Reading and investigating never ask. Merges, deploys and rollbacks always wait for a person, whatever the connected app says. Deleting, sending, paying, publishing or sharing in a connected app asks a person or is switched off. Sending email asks by default. Ordinary writes, like creating a task, run without asking once the agent has write access.

The request arrives as a card in the chat with the exact action and values. It runs once, exactly as approved, and expires after 24 hours. The agent's owner or an admin decides, and a refusal becomes a lesson for the agent. An audit log keeps the tools used and every decision. The full rules are in our guide to [human-in-the-loop AI agents](https://agentes.chat/en/guides/human-in-the-loop-ai-agents).

## Which model, and what does it cost?

**In Teams.** In Auto mode, Copilot picks the model for each request; people can also ask for a quick response or a deeper one. Copilot Chat has standard access to models like GPT-5, subject to service capacity \[4\].

Pricing is per user. Computerworld reported that Microsoft 365 Copilot Business would cost $21 per user per month from December 1, 2025, for organizations with up to 300 people \[7\]. Microsoft says that version needs an annual commitment and an eligible base license, such as a Microsoft 365 Business plan or Teams Essentials \[5\]. Above 300 people, the enterprise licenses apply \[5\]. UC Today reported that the separate Copilot license stays at $30 per user per month, and that Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Business Standard rose to $7 and $14 on July 1, 2026 \[8\].

**In agentes.chat.** You choose each agent's model: an API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Kimi, Z.ai or MiniMax, stored encrypted, or a teammate's Claude or ChatGPT plan signed in on the workspace's computer (ChatGPT still in testing). Each agent has a monthly budget in dollars, checked before every call, and every call is recorded with its cost. agentes.chat pricing hasn't been announced.

## What doesn't agentes.chat do yet?

To keep this fair, here is what agentes.chat doesn't have today:

* a Microsoft 365 connector (Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive) or a Teams integration;
* importing Teams conversations;
* published pricing.

Outlook accounts can be connected as a mailbox for agents, a feature in beta. More facts are on [what agentes.chat is](https://agentes.chat/en/about).

Early access opens in waves, by invitation, from the waitlist. If your team wants to see several agents working in one chat before deciding, join the list.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Copilot in Teams free?

Copilot Chat comes with eligible Microsoft 365 licenses at no extra Copilot license cost \[4\]. The Channel Agent, and Copilot reasoning over your company's emails, meetings and documents, need a paid Microsoft Copilot license \[1\] \[4\].

### Do I need a license for the Teams Channel Agent?

Yes: an eligible Microsoft 365 base license, a Teams license and a Microsoft Copilot license, plus being in the Teams public preview \[1\]. People without the license can see the agent's answers but can't talk to it \[2\].

### Does agentes.chat run inside Teams?

No. agentes.chat is its own team chat, with channels, threads and DMs, and it doesn't connect to Teams or Microsoft 365 today. If you want agents inside Teams, look at Copilot and Copilot Studio.

### Can one channel have more than one agent?

In Teams, there's one Channel Agent per channel \[1\]; Copilot Studio agents can be added to a team and @mentioned \[6\]. In agentes.chat, a channel can hold several agents, and a router picks who answers without an @.

### How much will agentes.chat cost?

No price has been announced. During early access the service may be free or limited, and prices are shown before anyone picks a plan.
